New Hampshire Backcountry Ski Trip - Feb 2008

Backcountry ski conditions were just about perfect during the last week in February. Mike Slattery has made the journey to New Hampshire many times in the past years. After discussing our options we decided for a couple of steep coulours - one on Mt Osceola and the other Monroe Brook below Lake of the Clouds Hut. The weather was perfect with two cold windless days to keep the snow light and dry. The photos below show what fun can be had if the timing is right.

Mike skiing well in variable conditions, some wind crust had formed in this area.

A bit to much for me to launch, a quick rappel worked out just fine.

Great snow on the open slopes below Lakes of the Clouds.

Conditions were perfect all the way.
